The waterline has risen above my head. I do not want learning, dignity, or respectability. I just want to see more clearly under water.

Ground Zero
The spiral is gone because nothing lives forever, but the ground has changed. There is something there that I have not seen before and what is going on I am not sure.
Just checking in. Sorry to see the demise of the spiral but I am intrigued by you working monochrome? Does curious things to the space and vibrates more then the most recent color posts. Can't wait to see where it goes.
Catherine, this is a "burn" or residue mark from where the spiral use to lie. When an animal dies in the woods, the impression is left on the ground and other organisms take over and cumulatively take the shape and start a life colony of their own. Then the shape will disappear over time. No matter what we do or who we meet in life, we leave a residue. We can only hope that residue has a long and positive impression after we are gone. I think this is all coming from losing a close friend and contemplating the cycle of life, like we all do when we lose someone we love. The art work is always about where our emotions and thoughts are right now and often not conscious. It can't be anything else. I love what you've been doing all year because it is all this.
The comments are really insightful. I wasn't thinking any of this consciously and I really don't know why my work is so erratic. What if it never does settle down or again maybe thats not such a bad thing. Thanks to all of you that are commenting. It adds alot to the images.
I have to make one more on this.. I don't think your work is erratic at all. The coolest part about this is that it is a product of the conscious thoughts you have at the time as well as the unconscious ones that we may see. I see common threads since you have been doing this. Others (me?) may not be correct all the time, it can depend on where THEIR head is at the time, too. I'm pretty sure I'm on base with this one tho. I wouldn't see this if I didn't already know you. Thanks for letting me get on a soap box and talk about your art. And as far as it "settling down"? Don't wish for that! :)
