The waterline has risen above my head. I do not want learning, dignity, or respectability. I just want to see more clearly under water.

Two Fish
Two Fish. These two joined in spirit are always together even when they swim apart. It is more the way two souls, mother/daughter, friends, husband/wife are bound to each other. Through life, death and any separation it is the same.

Three Fish - Cosmic Ocean Series
Three Fish. They are related, sisters, and playing close to the waves. They understand the nature of the water, it's ebb and flow.

Spirit Fish Appears - Cosmic Ocean Series
Spirit Fish Appears. Spirit fish comes to help Little Fish in his frantic search. To find ourselves again we need the spirit with us. It is difficult and will take a long time but Little Fish is strong and he is ready as long as he can see what he needs to do.

Searching The Bottom - Cosmic Ocean Series
Searching The Bottom. Always there are interesting things on the ocean floor. Sometimes there are magical things, and it's good to go down there to take a look.

Spirit Fish Too - Cosmic Ocean Series
Spirit Fish Too. I've found that there are many spirit fish, ancestors, angel fish, guardian fish to name a few. They are ancient in age, many in number, and rarely seen.

Spirit Fish - Cosmic Ocean Series
Spirit Fish. They are difficult to see, maybe visible out of the corner of your eye. They roam free in the darkest deepest waters. They are watchful and hold the mystery of these primordial waters.

Facing The Light - Cosmic Ocean Series
Facing the Light. There is a point and place where water becomes light, and maybe the fish doesn't even realize that she is there because the journey was long and the change gradual.

Red Fish - Cosmic Ocean Series
Red Fish. All the fish live comfortably in these waters. They are protected always and the red fish is strong, powerful, and joyful. The others admire him. He always survives the currents and storms and can swim around the world with ease.

Great Mother Fish - Cosmic Ocean Series
The Great Mother Fish. She is the mother of every universal thing and she lives within us in the darkest part of space and time.

Fish Memory - Cosmic Ocean Series
Fish Memory. There is a time for each fish when it remembers where it came from, and the light in that place. Then the longing to return begins.

Cosmic Spiral - Cosmic Ocean Series
Cosmic Spiral. Each fish knows the spiral, is born with the spiral and dies within it as well. It is the swimming cycle; the swimming in and the swimming out, the breath, and the rhythm. It is the vibration of all life.
The Cosmic Ocean Series is dedicated to my close friend Luzanne Johnston.

Going Home
Like a flower the universe opens to receive its own. From the shell of our lives we are reborn to the heavens.
For Luzanne.

Rock in Water
Luzanne, I honor your strength and your intuition, which for me was a rock in water. Thank you for everything you have given me.

End of Day
There is something at the end of every day that promises a new beginning, and a radiant new world. A passage that we all must make through darkness into light.
This image is dedicated to Luzanne Johnston, my lifelong friend whom I will really miss.

Irrigation
We all need water. Sometimes to get it we have to build irrigation ditches. It's the only way and a lot of work.

Sunset Revisited
Collage can create whole new worlds from the pieces of old ones. I love to tear up my images and relate the shapes back together. Intensity is in the pieces. This painting combines Scratches on the Sun with the earlier Sunset for a completely different feeling and a little more complexity.

Sylph
Sylphs are mythological beings of the air, "elementals" who, as the stories tell, live in the atmosphere above the earth. If they are benevolent enough, maybe they will help transmute our poisonous gasses.

Mango
I am going through a phase. This is a portrait of Mango, my parrot. It seems I have regressed to about age 4.

Sunset
Painting sunsets are a taboo mostly in the rarified art world. Hard to paint a fresh sunset, something past the cliche we are used to. I won't claim any success with that but sunsets are seductively beautiful and can be easily painted by anyone with a few colorful strokes. It's fun. I guess I am firmly back on earth.

Solar Flares III
This is the year of the solar maximum. It may well be solar flares all year. Who knows what will happen.

The World is a Spinning Disc
The world is a spinning disc on a wobbling stick.
I destroyed this in a fit of rage. It wasn't what I wanted at the time, but adapted a little it's pretty strong. Beware of tearing up your work too soon. Sometimes too, the photographic image is better than the original. That is the case here.
Happy Birthday Ken.

Still Point
A Crossroads. Not a road exactly, but the place where one thing laps over another and the meeting point sealed with a rock, a tree, a whirlpool, or a stop sign. That is the still point.
